چکیده

Following partial discharge activity within a gaseous void, charges will accumulate on the wall of the void. In the present paper, the decay of such charges due to surface currents at the void wall is studied analytically, and the factors affecting this decay are indicated.

Jets Opposing Turbidity Currents and Open Channel Flows

Hydraulic jumps at the tail end of spillways are usually induced by baffle blocks or other obstacles. Such jumps can also be induced by jets that oppose the main flow. Another application is to back up turbidity currents in reservoirs by means of opposing jets. This measure can be adopted when transfer tunnels feed water into the reservoir at a higher elevation near the dam. Stopping the turbid...

Theoretical Verification Necessity of Leakage Currents Using Sm Doped Ceria Electrolytes in SOFCs

Numerous approaches have been made to solve the basic transport equation that describes a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) with mixed conduction. Classically, the open circuit voltage (OCV) is calculated with Wagner‘s equation, which is right within the limits of linear transport theory. In order to generalize Wagner’s equation, many models have been proposed to describe the current-voltage relatio...

Global Regularity for the Critical Dispersive Dissipative Surface Quasi-geostrophic Equation

We consider surface quasi-geostrophic equation with dispersive forcing and critical dissipation. We prove global existence of smooth solutions given sufficiently smooth initial data. This is done using a maximum principle for the solutions involving conservation of a certain family of moduli of continuity.

Models of field-aligned currents needful to simulate the substorm variations of the electric field and other parameters observed by EISCAT

We have used the global numerical model of the coupled ionosphere-thermosphere-protonosphere system to simulate the electric-field, ionand electron-temperature and -concentration variations observed by EISCAT during the substorm event of 25 March 1987. In our previous studies we adopted the model input data for field-aligned currents and precipitating electron fluxes to obtain an agreement betw...

Current Density and Continuity in Discretized Models

Discrete approaches have long been used in numerical modelling of physical systems in both research and teaching. Discrete versions of the Schrödinger equation employing either one or several basis functions per mesh point are often used by senior undergraduates and beginning graduate students in computational physics projects. In studying discrete models, students can encounter conceptual diff...
